Information about IDO-EUSA University Championships 2017

Dear IDO National Member Organizations,

I would like to invite all dancers that are students to take part at the third year of  IDO-EUSA UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS that will be held in conjunctions with our prestigious World Championships as follows:

  •           03.12.2017-06.12.2017 at the IDO World Modern&Contemporary Championships in Ossa, Poland for  ADULT MODERN&CONTEMPORARY solo female and male.

Competition dates:

Student female solo Modern, date: 03.12.2017

Student male solo Modern, date: 06.12.2017

Deadline: 27.11.2017

 

  •           06.12.-10.12.2017 at the IDO European Ballet&Jazz Championships in Ossa, Poland for ADULT JAZZ solo female and male.

Competition dates:

Student female solo Jazz, date: 06.12.2017

Student male solo Jazz, date: 07.12.2017

Deadline: 27.11.2017

All enrolments must be done by the national organizations or by the students themselves through a special enrolment system that is  on the IDO SPORT Sub-Website www.ido-sport.org !

All competitions are held in accordance with the IDO Rules and Regulations and are adjudicated by the IDO licensed Adjudicators.

THERE ARE NO EXTRA REGISTRATION FEES OR STARTING FEES FOR DANCERS THAT ARE ALREADY REGISTERED IN IDO FOR YEAR 2017, but students can have benefits.

Some dancers that took part at last year competition earned:

  • additional scholastic points at their University,  (please, contact your University for more information).
  • money from the government.
  • Points to be evaluated for sport scholarships for year 2017.

For more information contact your National Olympic Committee or any other governing sport body and the University your dancers will represent.

For year 2017 we can accept only dancers from European countries as we are partners with EUSA-European University Sport Association.

It is very important to have a student from a country, if it is of course possibleJ

IDO AT THE 23RD EFPM CONGRESS!

The International Dance Organization’s Vice President & Sports Director, Fiona Johnson Kocjancic represented the IDO during the annual Congress of the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM). The Congress was held between the 24th and 26th October in Haifa, Israel.

The IDO is delighted to be have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the EFPM. This is a colossal step for the IDO as it will support many of the work done in the Adjudication and Sports departments. The Adjudication Committee and all their officials work very hard against any result manipulation and the IDO Competition and Sport Committee take care that all IDO events are organized in the Olympic and Fair Play manner, where no discrimination is allowed against any country or person on the grounds of race, religion, gender or political affiliations.

IDO Vice President, Fiona Johnson Kocjancic said:

‘The International Dance Organization believes in interdisciplinary cooperation, as different organizations can do much more and better towards the development of sport, especially when we are talking about the promotion and development of Fair Play. Today, I am very proud to officially announce that IDO has become the European Fair Play Movement Associated Member.’

IDO EUROPEAN REGIONAL MEETING!

The International Dance Organization’s Senior Vice-President and Chairman of European Conference, Dr Velibor Srdic, recently organised a regional meeting on the 22nd October 2017 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The regional meeting was on this occasion for the European nations of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Each country presented their national organization’s structure and education system. Possible regional corporation was discussed including supporting each other in regional and ranking competitions, IDO EUSA Championships, amongst others.

IDO Senior Vice-President, Dr Velibor Srdic, said:

‘I am delighted with the European regional meeting held between Nordic countries. Many issues were discussed with the aim of bringing these IDO national members organizations, working closer together. The atmosphere was very nice, positive and very productive.’

IDO World Hip Hop, Electric Boogie and Breakdance Championships 2017!

The International Dance Organization is excited that the IDO World Hip Hop, Electric Boogie and Breakdance Championships for 2017 will be held this week. The Championship is being organised from the 17th to the 21st October 2017, in the stunning European city of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The event is organised by IDO Executive Secretary Kirsten Dan Jensen and Christensen Henning from Denmark. 2,848 dancers from 29 nations from 4 continents will be taking part in this impressive IDO Championships. The nations are:

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Korea, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.

IDO Senior Vice-President Dr Velibor Srdic from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Pia Reinhardt from Denmark, will be leading the IDO officials at the event. Rott Carsten from Germany, is the competitions Supervisor.

Great IDO World Couple Dance Championships!

The International Dance Organization`s World Championships for Couple Dance were recently organised in Telfs, Austria. The two-day championships, saw over 500 dancers from 12 countries taking part. The event was organised by the Ferry Polai Dance School and saw various dance styles including Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Argentinian Tango and Disco Fox.

IDO Vice-President, Hana Svelhova led the Dancers and Teachers‘ Forums at the Championships. Lots of discussion in the forums ensued, including the promotion of IDO Couple Dance events in the future, competition schedules, rules, amogst others.

Gaynor Johnson from the IDOs social media department, attended the event as IDO’s Press Officer and said:

The Championships was great, full of energy from the dancers and amazing support from the audience. The passion and dedication showed on the dancefloor by the dancers was stunning. I can’t wait to see them all again, burning the dance floor, in a future IDO Couple Dance event.'
