IDO World Hip Hop, Electric Boogie and Breakdance Championships 2017!

The International Dance Organization is excited that the IDO World Hip Hop, Electric Boogie and Breakdance Championships for 2017 will be held this week. The Championship is being organised from the 17th to the 21st October 2017, in the stunning European city of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The event is organised by IDO Executive Secretary Kirsten Dan Jensen and Christensen Henning from Denmark. 2,848 dancers from 29 nations from 4 continents will be taking part in this impressive IDO Championships. The nations are:

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Korea, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.

IDO Senior Vice-President Dr Velibor Srdic from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Pia Reinhardt from Denmark, will be leading the IDO officials at the event. Rott Carsten from Germany, is the competitions Supervisor.

Great IDO World Couple Dance Championships!

The International Dance Organization`s World Championships for Couple Dance were recently organised in Telfs, Austria. The two-day championships, saw over 500 dancers from 12 countries taking part. The event was organised by the Ferry Polai Dance School and saw various dance styles including Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Argentinian Tango and Disco Fox.

IDO Vice-President, Hana Svelhova led the Dancers and Teachers‘ Forums at the Championships. Lots of discussion in the forums ensued, including the promotion of IDO Couple Dance events in the future, competition schedules, rules, amogst others.

Gaynor Johnson from the IDOs social media department, attended the event as IDO’s Press Officer and said:

The Championships was great, full of energy from the dancers and amazing support from the audience. The passion and dedication showed on the dancefloor by the dancers was stunning. I can’t wait to see them all again, burning the dance floor, in a future IDO Couple Dance event.'

Celebrating 20 years of IDO Dance Excellence for Tap in Riesa!

The German city of Riesa, will in November celebrate 20 years of dance excellence for Tap Dance. The International Dance Organization is delighted to be returning to Riesa for the prestigious IDO World Tap Dance Championships that will be staged in the Erdgas Arena from Tuesday 28th November to Saturday 2nd December 2017.

The World Tap Dance Championships, started in November 1998, when one of the IDO’s greatest ambassadors, Michael Wendt together with the city of Riesa, started this impressive World Championship, that is unique to our world governing body. The two weeks festival of World Show Dance and World Tap Dance Championships, has grown into one of the biggest and most extraordinary events in the IDO calendar. Over 3,000 dancers from five continents participate annually at these 'Olympics for Dance'.

At the Gala Night on Saturday, December 2, 2017 the Lord Mayor of Riesa, Mr. Marco Muller and the Directors of the FVG Riesa, Kathleen Kiessling and Reiner Striegler, want to say THANK YOU to the “wise guys” from as many countries as possible, who have been in Riesa for Tap for more than 15 years. Therefore, the IDO is asking all federation officials, choreographers, teachers and judges to send their full names via email to by no later than 15th October 2017.

The IDO Press Office also calls on teachers, choreographers, past competitors and IDO friends to celebrate this milestone and share all your wonderful memories of 'Dancing in Riesa' on all IDO’s social media portals and using our hashtags as below:

The International Dance Organization’s Senior Vice President, Dr Velibor Srdic, has been very busy organising and delivering meetings and adjudication examinations throughout Europe.

In his capacity as Chairman of the European Conference, a regional meeting was held on the 30th September and 1st October between the European nations of Belgium, Germany and Netherlands in Frankfurt, Germany. Each country presented their national organization’s structure and education system. Possible corporation with regional competitions in various disciplines was discussed together with supporting each other at their own national events.

IDO Senior Vice-President, Dr Velibor Srdic said:

‘I am delighted with the European regional meeting as we were able to discuss many issues with the aim of bringing these IDO national member organizations closer together. We discussed the importance of participation in EUSA Championships and in IDO Gala Events, amongst many other topics. All discussions were excellent examples, that were brought together for the good work of our national members.’

Dr Srdic was also recently at the capital of the Olympics, in Lausanne, Switzerland, were he hosted an international adjudicators examination. The best participants nominitiated by their national federation attended the seminar and undertook the exams.

The International Dance Organization is all set to celebrate World Peace Day on the 21st September 2017. Peace Day is an annual event celebrated across the globe, where families, organisations and friends come together to mark this special day. By celebrating and participating in World Peace Day, the IDO reaffirms its commitment to peace and harmony in the world and endorses a universal IDO for all its members, no matter one’s race, gender or religion.  

IDO is delighted to confirm it will be celebrating World Peace Day at the World Street Dance Show Championships and World Disco Dance Cups in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic. The participating dancers and nations will join in a flag ceremony supporting the TOGETHER global campaign promoting respect, safety and dignity. 

The ceremony will see the IDO flag and a World peace flag being paraded too, and the IDO hopes that as many dancers as possible take photos with the IDO flag and send them to: and use the hashtags: #IDODance #IDOWorldDance #IDOWorldPeaceDay when posting on social media. 

The IDO Public Relations department takes this opportunity to thank Silvie Netikova and the organising team of TS Freedom, Czech Republiuc, for all their help and support in collaborating with IDO to celebrate World Peace Day. IDO looks forward to celebrating this World Day of Peace annually.
